SUCCESSES - Using stress management to handle a difficult bossLife Coaching enabled the COO of a regional telecommunications company to keep her job. The stress management she learns through Interactive Imagery empowers her to deal successfully with a difficult boss. SITUATIONJoan, the COO of a large regional telecommunications company, sought life coaching to learn stress management. Joan loved her job and she was great at it. The problem was her boss, the CEO. Joan had been with the company since its inception, fifteen years earlier, and had watched Craig become increasingly irrational, unpredictable and abusive as the company grew. In fact, when Joan came to me for life coaching, her single most important role in this multimillion- dollar company was to protect the rest of the organization from the vagaries of Craig’s moods and behavior. While she had handled the situation successfully for years, the stress had become too much for her. She was experiencing health problems and was considering seeking a position elsewhere. Joan wanted to stay at her job, but to do so she needed to find
ways to deal better with Craig’s irrationality and abuse. If she were
unable to learn stress management, she would have to leave. Joan turned
to life coaching for help. LIFE COACHING APPROACHWe used Interactive Imagery to help Joan. Interactive Imagery takes Intuition Coaching to a deeper level, allowing you to connect deeply with your inner wisdom for advice. When we turned to Joan’s inner wisdom for help, what emerged was the image of an angelic figure. This image provided direct guidance and practical suggestions for handling Craig and managing the stress that he created. The Guide taught Joan to look at Craig from a more detached perspective
and to avoid taking the things that he did personally. It helped her
recognize that, despite the occasional verbal abuse that Craig directed
at Joan, he really trusted and respected her. She saw, too, that when
Craig made choices that were particularly ill-advised, he generally heeded
Joan’s counsel and modified his decisions. RESULTSImproved stress management enables Joan to handle her challenging boss and remain at her job.
